Behind the pixels and pages: Entering the world of games journalism.
Hello. The mission statement for this blog is to try and help people who are looking to get into videogame journalism. I was lucky enough to get a helping hand into the business two years ago. And I can honestly says it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Information and advice on how to get into the industry is relatively thin on the ground, so hopefully my experiences, although far from a blueprint on how to succeed, will hopefully point a few folk in the right direction. I’ll also post occasional reviews from time to time and comment on any big gaming stories that grab my attention. And, seeing as I’m an impoverished student for much of my time, I’ll be posting reviews on some golden oldies, which you should be able to pick up in your local bargain bin for a few measly quid. We tax dodgers are all about the bargains, after all.
On a personal note, I’m Dave Meikleham, a freelance writer for Future Publishing, who’s regularly contributed to PSM3 magazine over the last two years. I’ve also had several articles published for the List, which you can read here. And am currently in my third year at Napier University studying journalism. So there you go then.
